Welcome...

Welcome to the family blog of George and Jocelyn Drake.  I'm starting this blog to capture our lives as it happens, in hopes that our children will have something to look back upon some day.
So it all began when George and I started dating back in 2002.  We had a math class together in college at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.  We barely spoke in class however, George used to work for my uncle so we were both always at my aunt and uncle's house in Lewiston.  My uncle Jim finally got George to ask me out and it all was up hill from then.  Our first date was February 23, 2002.  It was a whirlwind and we were inseparable from the beginning.  We started dating in February and I found out I got into nursing school in Coeur d'alene Idaho and would be moving up north in the summer.  He had a job offer for Boise Cascade in Boise, Idaho.  I remember specifically the day he decided to take the job in Boise.  Not sure what the date was but we were hanging out in his apartment and he hadn't told me yet what he was doing. His brother called and he walked slightly out of the room to talk to him, I could only hear part of the conversation however he told his brother that he was taking the job and then his brother asked if he had told me yet, his answer was "No, I haven't told her".  At that moment, even though we were moving in separate directions... I knew that I meant a lot to him... he had talked to his brother about me!!
In May of 2002, George moved to Boise, Idaho.  Most weekends we traveled to each other, and then in July I moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
We decided after a few months of being this far apart that we couldn't do it... George then decided he was moving to Coeur d'Alene.  He put in for a job transfer however, there wasn't an open position at the Spokane branch at the time so he laid everything on the line and said he was quitting and moving regardless.  He gave his notice and not long after he gave his notice (before he was done) a job came open in Spokane and he transferred to the Spokane branch.  Looking back I'm  not sure what we were thinking just letting him move without a job lined up... but we were young and in LOVE.

We dated from 2002-2004 when he asked me to marry him.  George asked me to marry him April 12th, 2004 .  I worked the evening shift at the hospital lab until 11pm and when I got home, he was still awake (which was rare).  We sat on the couch for a bit and chatted but he seamed a bit strange.  Pretty soon he had the camera out and asked me to look at a picture of something he had seen that day.  When I looked at the camera their was a picture of a beautiful wedding ring.  It didn't dawn on me in order for him to take a picture of it, he probably had to have the ring.  When I looked up he was holding the ring and asked me to marry him.  I absolutely said yes.  I don't remember the exact words that were spoken but I will say I'm so glad that he asked me!
