Carver Farms 2012

This year George wasn't able to do the pumpkin patch with us, Therefore instead of just me trucking both the girls up to Greenbluff, I decided, we would do a smaller farm, Carver Farms.  We go to this family owned farm every year for Christmas trees and strawberry picking, however have never done pumpkins here.  It was a great way to get out of the house for the girls and go to a pumpkin patch but not to much that a mom couldn't handle by herself.  When we got there I put Katelyn in the front pack and we were off.  We got to ride the wagon out to the pumpkins and Kiersten got to pick out a pumpkin.  The worst part of it was that Kiersten only got to get one pumpkin because I can only carry so much! Regardless of the amount of pumpkins we DIDN'T get...Kiersten still had a blast and Katelyn wasn't sure what to think about it all.  I will definitely look forward to next year when Katelyn can get up and around and find her own pumpkin!

Soccer pictures 2012

Today was the last game that I get to see! I had the privilege of being a fill in assistant coach today! It was great to be involved more in the game today and Kiersten ran her butt off the whole game! Which was a lot because we had two players missing! So we had our 4 kids to their 6! Here is Kiersten's soccer pictures from this season!

Introducing Kiersten: The Singing Princess

Kiersten was playing out front and I hear her voice singing a way.  I let her sing for a long time and then decided...wow I should have this on video.  Once I videoed her, she decided I didn't need to listen anymore and came and shut the front door... and then proceeded to go back and sing for the neighborhood!

The house’s “New Skin”

As Kiersten has grown her personality is in everything, which I love.  I’m not sure where all our time or what we thought was funny back before having kids.  Anyhow, that’s how this title came about.  Our house had old siding on it that was starting to fall off and rotting in places and it needed redone.  Therefore we decided to replace and paint the new siding, in which Kiersten has been calling it skin for the month we have been working on the remodel.  Thanks to all of our friends that helped with the “new skin.” We love it!

Soccer 2012

This year we have gotten Kiersten involved in city league Soccer.  The 4 year old team is all about having fun and just teaching them basic skills.  She has a blast however says she gets tired and needs water a lot.  We were at the dinner table the other night and George and her were talking about her soccer games.  She asked if her team won, and he said No.  She was not happy that she didn’t win so she said well next time we need to win.  I reminded her that it was about having fun.  She agreed but then George was joking around with her and said winning is more fun than losing and that winners get put on TV, sportscenter.  So then the next question he asked her, “So who’s going to get on sports center this week?”  She replied without hesitation, “The other team.”  I couldn’t control my laughter, and then she asked if dad was going to be there this week to bring him water out on the field!  Love this kid and her personality!  So here are some pics from the first soccer game!

Shopping and First Day of School

Kiersten, Grandma Kate, and I went school clothes shopping.  It was an official “lets go school shopping” trip, which we had never done before!  Kiersten loved it for the first few stores.  Although her smart mouth was rough to handle a few times.  She was super excited and took some calming down.  One dress I brought her, she informed me that I needed to “bring something else back that was cuter”  I was embarrassed of my own daughters attitude in public, however, That’s Kiersten. She just hasn’t figured out what is rude yet!  Kate couldn’t believe that our Kiersten is ALL GIRL; GLITTER and FRILL.

With that said the First day of school was Sept 4th, 2012 and she picked her own outfit out… and here it is!

Fair Days–North Idaho Fair

We have not went to North Idaho Fair before, we have always went to the Orofino Fair.  However, this year we we off and around for the fair up here in CDA and it was great.  The reason I loved it most was because George got to go with us.  He is usually hunting during fair days and I don’t think he has been able to go with us before.  It was great to see him with Kiersten on the rides!  She loved it as well.  Here are the pictures!

Memorial Day 2012–Tensed

Once again we went to Tensed to Bryan and Erin Dever’s property.  This is an annual event for our families and we have the best time.  Its usually our first camping trip of the season and it was no different this year!.  It was also Katelyn’s first camping trip, Unfortunately she was still so young that I don’t have many pictures of her.

Bloomsday and Hunting May 2012

May 6, 2012 was Bloomsday, my first Bloomsday!    It was a great experience and gives me something to focus on for next year… I’m planning on getting faster!  After the race they put your results up online and they stay there forever.  So you can look up your past years.  Thanks mom for inviting me to walk with you!! It was a great time.  While we did Bloomsday…George took Kiersten hunting for the first time, turkey hunting.  She must be goodluck, because they got a turkey the first day out.  George said she did an amazing job hiking up the mountain.  He said the turkey kept going up the mountain and she just wanted to follow it!  Eventually they got one and she describes the hunt wonderfully! He brought the turkey home and we had it in the garage for a while contemplating if we wanted to get her first hunt animal mounted…we decided no.  But for the following day after the hunt, she constantly wanted to go check on the turkey.  Here is a photo of George, Kiersten, and the turkey!

Some People think I’m CrAzY–The Cloth Diapering adventure!

Some People think I'm crazy, and 4 years ago I thought one of my friends was that took on this adventure! (sorry Jamie :) )So with Kiersten the only thing natural I really did was make her baby food!  Yes, and some thought I was crazy then as well. I know for a fact how easy making baby food was!! Once a week I made baby food and froze it.  If we were eating something that I thought Kiersten would like fresh then I just blended it up and fed it to her!  I’ll be doing the same with Katelyn once she gets old enough to start eating. But this time it will be a bit easier because my mom bought me a baby food making kit!  So with that said Cloth Diapering is my new adventure and so far its been very easy.  I chose to use pocket diapers, because of the ease of use and the price.  After all I am doing this to save money most of all!  There are many types of cloth diapers out there…. prefolds, fitted, with covers, Pockets, and All in Ones.  All in ones are the easiest probably, and the most like disposable. Everything is encompassed in the diaper and you just put it on and wash it.  However I didn’t find these to be cost effective…or at least not as cost effective as the pockets.  Pockets are similar to AIO diapers except you have to stuff a soaker insert into them.  Other than that you put it on, take it off, pull the insert out, and wash, then after wash stuff the insert back into it.  Yes cloth diapering will add a couple more loads of laundry a week however I think its worth the money saving.  All my cloth diapers cost me $138.00, I bought a 24 pack for 108.00 and got three other ones for $20, so I have 27 diapers all together! The ones I bought are One size diapers which means they snap smaller and unsnap to make bigger so they will grow with Katelyn and I shouldn’t ever have to buy any more!  Now think of how much a pack of diapers cost… I did just buy a pack of pampers size 1, 128 diapers for 24.95.   (my husband says he refuses to touch the cloth, so i'm still obligated to buy some disposables) Those would last us….aprox 10 days.  So in about a month and half I would have paid and thrown away what I just paid for my cloth!   This alone is what convinced me to try cloth!  And now I’m addicted to its cuteness!!!
